Prey goes mobile
The purdiest-looking mobile first-person-shooter yet

There haven't been many FPS games for phones, we have to admit. The uninspiring Duke Nukem 3D was one, EA turned Doom into the rather ace (if now turn-based) Doom RPG, and PC game S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is coming to mobile later this year.

Now this select group will be joined by Prey, a mobile conversion of the popular Xbox 360 and PC game. It's being developed by US firm MachineWorks Northwest, and published by SkyZone Entertainment.

The companies promise that Prey will include whizzy visuals inspired by the original game, but with a new storyline, new locations, and an original soundtrack. Such focus on mobile is worth celebrating.

Due out in summer, the game will be available for Windows Mobile and Symbian smartphones, as well as BREW handsets. The game uses MachineWorks' own Ripp3D software engine to crunch the graphics.

The original Prey game was published by 3D Realms, and MachineWorks has separately signed the mobile rights to ALL its games. In other words, expect more Duke Nukem mobile games to be coming your way. We're also wondering if they'll try to bring Max Payne to phones, too.
